NEW OPEN CLASS ATV HERO FROM HONDA - THE TRX700XX9/Jan/2008There's a new open-class sport ATV from Honda due later this year, the TRX700XX.
Honda claim the quad’s new 686cc SOHC liquid-cooled
fuel-injected, four-valve, four-stroke engine
generates the highest peak output in its class. We
are not sure who they are comparing it to as with a
single cylinder donk, it is not going to be a match
for the large capacity multis from some of their
opposition. So we can only guess they are claiming
more power than Yamaha's similar capacity single
lung machine.
The TRX700 features a PGM fuel injection system with 44mm throttle body for excellent cold weather starting, lower maintenance and consistent performance in all conditions. An easily accessible two-stage large capacity foam air-filter also follows the easy servicing mantra. Wrapped in a steel frame with removable sub-frame the TRX700XX boasts double-wishbone Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), including a tuned rear sway bar. The IRS system uses premium shock absorbers and an innovative centred chain drive system. Adjustment is by way of traditional snail-cam eccentrics. At the rear of the machine large diameter 11 inch aluminium rims house a 200mm disc at each corner and are shod with aggressive radial tyres. Honda claim the large rims allow for ideal CV joint angles and A-arm lengths to aid handling and suspension response. A five-speed transmission with the addition of a reverse gear is made to stand up to the rigours of hard core use along with a heavy duty clutch. AAdditional features include a gear-driven counter-balancer to minimise engine vibration, closed crankcase vent system to safeguard against engine oil contamination, stainless steel muffler/spark arrester for quiet operation, high-efficiency dry-sump lubrication system for maximum engine cooling, and triple disc brakes for excellent stopping power. This new Honda looks the part with very little front overhang and aggressive styling. Lighting the track ahead when conditions turn dim are a pair of 30-watt headlights integrated into the swooping front panels. At the rear an LED brake light helps protect your rump. Helping to protect the TRX700XX itself is a polyethylene front bar and rear A-arm protectors while a high-impact urethane skid-plate protects the chassis and engine cases. Theft protection has also been thought of with a keyed ignition switch helping to add a little peace of mind. We expect to see the TRX700XX in Australia around mid 2008.br> Engine - 686cc liquid cooled, SOHC, dry sump, single cylinder, four stroke Bore x Stroke - 102mm x 84mm Induction - Keihin PGM-FI, 44mm throttle body Ignition - CD with electronic advance Starter - Electric Clutch - Manual Gearbox - Five speed with reverse Drive - #520 chain (centred) Front Suspension - Independent double wishbone, dual single rate springs, 230mm travel Rear Suspension - Independent double wishbone, piggyback reservoir shocks, 265mm travel Front Brakes - Dual hydraulic 174mm discs Rear Brakes - Dual hydraulic 200mm discs Front Tyres - 21x7R10 Rear Tyres - 22x9R11 Length - 1847mm Width - 1157mm Height - 1135mm Seat Height - 825mm Ground Clearance - 250mm Wheelbase - 1245mm Wet Weight - 230kg inclusive of all fluids (full tank of fuel) Fuel capacity - 13 litres |
