Hardiman ATV East Coast Cup - Rnd 1 - Worth conquers Quirindi27/Jun/2008Quirindi Motorcycle club played host to the opening of the Hardiman ATV East Coast Cup last weekend with a picture perfect day providing combined with pristine track conditions to set the scene for what organiser Todd O'Leary claimed to be, 'the best ATV racing NSW has seen'.A healthy entry list made way for five highly competitive classes.A grade saw the Hardiman ATV Kawasaki KFX450 prove to be unstoppable with Paul Worth taking three wins from three starts ahead of Can-Am pilot Michael Roycroft. Roycroft finished second on the day with Woody's Honda rider Rob Booth rounding out the podium. B grade showcased some of the most competitive racing on the day with the lead changing on many occasions. Suzuki rider Thomas Andruschak showed great pace early in the races only to be hunted down by the rest of the pack. Brian Duck worked his way to the lead for two wins earning him the overall win for the day ahead of Queenslander Daniel Roberts and Wade Jacobs. Plenty of determined Veterans made their class a highlight. Geoff McKee was quick out of the gates followed by Barnaby Hinzmann and Paul Nixon. Todd O'Leary worked his way through the field to take the overall win ahead of McKee and Hinzmann. The Women’s class proved competitive with NZ Women’s MX champ Nina McVicar making her way across the Tasman to join the Hardiman Kawasaki squad for the event. The McVicar challenge brought Kelly Thorne down from Queensland to take third overall behind Brenna Bartley but it was McVicar that took outright honours. C grade had plenty of wheel bashing action with Marty Blake YFZ450 winning all three races on his Yamaha ahead of Kevin Nielsen and Shaun Goodman. The second round of the Hardiman ATV East Coast Cup will be staged at the renowned Barleigh Ranch circuit near Newcastle on July 13th. |
