LANCASTER 2008 CHAMP - ALL WA PODIUM26/Oct/2008 - By, Trevor HedgePort Hedland rider Ryan Lancaster has been crowned 2008 Australian ATV Quad Motocross Championship.Christopher Brenton won the final bout at Smithton today but the 2008 crown was awarded to Ryan Lancaster.Chris Brenton broke away early on with Chad McKay trying to stay on his heels. Lancaster was languishing midpack after making a careful start to the race. Lancaster knew all he needed was fourth place to take the crown thus he bided his time before making his march forward through the field. KTM rider Jy Stokes started strongly in third place before fading as the race wore on. He was caught and passed by Can-Am youngster Luke Gaisford making an all WA top four in the final bout. Lancaster steadily closed on McKay before taking second place from the Savage Suzuki man at the last lap board. Brenton had disappeared in the distance to a convincing victory to win the battle but it was Lancaster who won the war. Official results have not been released as yet but it is safe to say that Ryan Lancaster is the 2008 Champion with according to our calculations 112 points, Brenton second on 106 and McKay third with 100 points from his five third place finishes.
