BRENTON CONTINUES TRI-STATE DOMINATION AT MURRAY BRIDGE27/May/2009A dominant win at Murray Bridge for Chris Brenton has given him a significant lead in the QRCV Tri-State Pro ATV Series. The KTM rider hit the track full of confidence and demoralised the opposition with a flawless display of controlled aggression. The well-groomed 1.8km technical track proved a winner in everyone’s eyes with great attendance from all over Australia. The Tri State Series run by the QRCV has a fantastic reputation of being one of the best motocross events run in Australia for the ATV fraternity and the weekend didn’t leave anyone in doubt of that fact. The Pro class boasted a field of 10 of the best in Australia and as always the best from the west put on a fantastic show. Brenton took the hole shot and never looked back in Moto one. In hot pursuit was Can Am X team rider Chad Mckay and Yamaha Australia rider Ryan Lancaster. With WA riders filling the podium places it was up to NSW Hardiman ATV rider Paul Worth to dig deep and keep up with the front-running sandgropers followed closely by young gun Mitch Van Vliet. Brenton pulled away from the field within the first two laps of the 20-minute Moto and after Chad McKay lost his seat it gave reigning National Champion Lancaster the perfect opportunity to pass. Worth kept up the pace throwing his quad around the berms trying not to lose the front-runners. At one stage Brenton clipped the tyres leaving the track but with a blink of the eye he was back on track and in control. Victorian riders Cameron Wade and Polaris rider Aaron Ovens were having a battle of their own when Ovens went off the berm which flipped his machine over and allowed Wade through. Over all it was a W.A. taking 1-2-3 with Brenton, Lancaster and McKay. Moto two saw Van Vliet out of action early while Brenton took the hole-shot once more. Worth had a fantastic start promoting him into second place with McKay hot on his heels. By the second lap it was Lancaster making his way through the field to give chase to Brenton. WA KTM rider Ant Yewers also gave chase after having a battle with Worth. The podium was again an all W.A. affair The third and final moto again saw Van Vliet in trouble after hitting Ovens only for himself to be also hit from behind and catapulted from his quad. After recuperating from five shoulder fractures Van Vliet had to settle for trying to circulate for points as again the Western Australians streaked away from the field. Brenton again got off the line well and hit the lead while Lancaster and McKay gave pursuit. Can-Am rider Michael Roycroft had his own set of problems which put him a lap down. Wade and Worth were having a great battle with the latter coming out on top of that tussle with another fifth place making him the top placed Eastern States rider overall with fifth for the round. The WA boys again made a clean sweep of proceedings with Brenton continuing his perfect form with yet another win from McKay while Lancaster rounded out the podium ahead of Yewers. Brenton who thanked all his sponsors commented, “this was one of the best tracks I’ve competed on and I can’t wait for the Nationals to be here” Support classes: - Expert Class had 14 great riders taking to the track but it was Luke Nixon who proved himself by taking 3 clean wins for the day. The rest of the field was all over the place with NSW rider Robert Booth and Mark Alcorn all the way from the Northern Territory and taking up the challenge to take 2nd and 3rd on the podium. Vets was also great to watch as 14 of the old codgers bumped rattled and rolled their way around the long track. Can Am X Team rider Pete Middleton proved he was the man in the 45 and over class with team mate Rob Van Vliet trying his best to keep up. In the 35 and over class it was KTM rider Len Pipiciello after having an ordinary 3rd moto manage to hole onto overall 1st place. SA rider Donna Newman was proud as punch as she kept up with and beat the majority of the field taking 6th place in the first moto The 90cc class had a massive 17 riders showing the spectators the future champions of the sport. Taylor Goldfinch along with Callum Shearer and Zac Middleton took to the podium in the standard class whilst Can Am X Team rider Cooper Van Vliet along with Kyle Glazbrook and Kristen Ellis took out the Modified class with big grins on their tiny faces. The Junior 200cc to 300cc class was another class to watch as WA, Vic, NSW, SA battled to see who would take out first place. With 12 of the best out on the track it was Victorian Quad Squad Rider Adam Larson who dominated the field. NSW rider Daniel Middleton flowed close behind with Quad Squad Rider Jake Van Vliet taking up 3rd place. It was great to see the QRCV combine with the support of the QRSA to make the day a breathtaking event on a remarkable prepared track. All who attended had a great day full of amazing racing.
